Must read

Shillong, March 19: As the campaign for the Lok Sabha general election heats up, National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh questioned elected representatives holding dual posts and also claimed to serve the public.

Speaking at a general meeting in Mawsynram on Monday, Dr. Ampareen citing her own example, stating that she resigned from her teaching position seven months after being elected as an MLA in 2009.

She raised concerns about elected representatives who continue to hold teaching positions even after being elected for over a year, calling for transparency in identifying such individuals.

“The question now arise, people should find out which MLA who are still holding the teaching position…. People should also find, which candidate who are holding dual post”, said Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh in her speech at Mawsynram.

On remarks about her being someone who is hungry for power, Dr. Lyngdoh said that if elected as MP, she would resign from her MLA position, contrasting her stance with that of opposition party candidates advocating for change.

Dr. Ampareen remarks seem directed at opposition Voice of the People’s Party (VPP) MLA Brighstartwell Marbaniang, who holds a teaching position alongside his MLA role, and VPP MP candidate Dr. Ricky Syngkon, who also holds a teaching position.
