New Bailey Bridge, enhances border connectivity in Arunachal

Guwahati, July 2: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has completed a strategically important 180-foot Bailey bridge in Arunachal Pradesh’s remote Kurung Kumey district, strengthening connectivity in one of India’s key frontier regions.

The bridge was constructed by the BRO’s 756 Task Force and 85 Road Construction Company (RCC) under Project Arunank, which is responsible for developing strategic road infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh.

Officials said the bridge replaces a damaged crossing and restores a crucial transport link connecting remote border villages with the rest of the state.

The project was completed despite persistent monsoon rains, difficult terrain and logistical challenges, underscoring the BRO’s efforts to enhance connectivity in the strategically sensitive border state.

The new bridge is expected to significantly improve the movement of people and goods while also bolstering defence preparedness by enabling faster deployment of security personnel, military vehicles and essential equipment to forward areas.

The bridge is part of the BRO’s larger push to create durable, all-weather infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh through the construction of roads, bridges and other key installations aimed at improving both national security and socio-economic development.
Project Arunank has been instrumental in expanding road connectivity across Arunachal’s border districts, helping integrate remote communities and enhancing access to essential services.

The latest addition comes amid a renewed focus on strengthening infrastructure along India’s northeastern frontier to improve connectivity and operational readiness in strategically important areas.
