The voting for the first phase of 18th Lok Sabha election has begun in 102 constituencies across India at 7 am. The voting will be held upto 4 pm today.
22,26,567 voters of which 10,99,517 are males, 11,27,047 are females and 3 are third gender – will exercise their franchise in 3512 polling stations, to elect their new leaders to represent them from the two constituencies in the parliament.
Of this, Rs 33.45 crore was pre-model code of conduct seizures and Rs 10.93 crore is post MCC seizures till today, chief electoral officer (CEO) Dr BDR Tiwari told reporters on Thursday.

The Election department announced on Thursday that a total of 31,247 first-time voters are registered in both Shillong and Tura parliamentary seats for the Lok Sabha election scheduled on April 19.
The sitting MP from Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, was contesting the seat since 2019, but a complaint was lodged in 2019 by Janak Lal Basumatary challenging the tribal certificate based on which Nava Kumar Sarania participated in the election process in the reserve category seat.
The Congress has fielded Uday Shankar Hazarika, a former BJP leader who switched sides to the Congress in 2023, against BJP MP Pradan Baruah, a seasoned politician who has won the seat twice in a row.
