“Childish”: Hek calls out Mukul on Assembly antics

Must read

Shillong, Sept 26: Senior BJP leader and Cabinet Minister, AL Hek, has called out to AITC leader and former CM Dr. Mukul Sangma for being “childish” for bringing someone’s private life onto the floor of the Assembly.

Responding to Mukul linking Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma with an alleged ‘Drug Kingpin’ from Mizoram in the recently concluded Meghalaya Assembly Session, the senior BJP legislator said, “You have your personal life, I have my own personal life, everyone has their own personal life… it is very childish to bring personal life into the public domain.”

He further said one should not hesitate to associate with someone, and that taking a picture with someone was not wrong. “If someone shows me respect, I will show them respect too,” he said.

However, when queried about the allegations made by Mukul against Conrad Sangma, Hek refrained from commenting directly. He stated that he did not wish to intrude on someone’s personal life but strongly condemned Mukul’s accusations, asserting that “no personal matter should be brought into the public domain”.

He further maintained that there is nothing wrong with being friends with anyone, offering the example of Mary Magdalene, who was labelled as characterless but was accepted by Jesus Christ.
