Guwahati, Oct 5: In a heartwarming development on World Animal Day, Kuwari — one of the most beloved elephants of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve — has given birth to a healthy female calf.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the joyous news on social media, announcing that the newborn has been affectionately named “Mayabini”, symbolizing new life, hope, and harmony in the wild.
The announcement carries a deeper emotional resonance, coming soon after the tragic passing of Assam’s beloved cultural icon, Zubeen Garg, whose famous song “Mayabini” and enduring love for nature touched countless hearts. The birth of little Mayabini stands as a poignant reminder of renewal and continuity — a gentle symbol of life’s enduring spirit in the heart of the wild.
