Imphal, May 13: In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old youth was killed after being struck by lightning at Moirang Oksubung paddy field near Loktak Lake in Manipur on May 11.
The deceased youth has been identified as Hemam Hemson, a resident of Moirang.
According to reports, the youth was struck by lightning at around 10:15 AM in the morning.
His body was found near a pond in the paddy field.
“A local villager said, ‘The youth went to the paddy field to help his father with agricultural work amidst light rainfall in and around Loktak Lake when he was struck by lightning.'”
The body of the youth was taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, for post-mortem examination.
