Shillong, April 15: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated a new PRIME Hub at Pyndenglawar in Nongstoin, marking a significant push to strengthen rural livelihoods and value-added agri-enterprises in the West Khasi Hills district.
The inauguration was attended by Nongstoin MLA G. Wahlang, Rambrai MLA R. G. Momin, and district officials.
Speaking at the event, Sangma said the network of PRIME (Promotion and Incubation of Market-driven Enterprises) Hubs across Meghalaya is aimed at unlocking economic opportunities in rural areas. “There is immense potential in our villages. People are producing diverse products, but often lack access to training, processing technology, packaging, and markets,” he said. The new hub, he added, will serve as a centre for skilling, training, and enterprise support for women, farmers, and youth.
Built at an investment of ₹5.92 crore, the Pyndenglawar facility is designed as a modern aggregation and processing centre. It will be managed by the Pyndenglawar Integrated Village Cooperative Society (IVCS), underscoring the state government’s emphasis on community-led and cooperative-driven development.

Officials said the initiative follows a Community-Public-Private Partnership (CPPP) model and focuses on building value chains in key sectors such as local winery products, medicinal and aromatic plants, floriculture, and value-added ginger products.
The hub is expected to directly benefit over 3,500 farmers in the region by improving processing capacity, enhancing product quality, and expanding market access—key steps toward increasing rural incomes and fostering sustainable entrepreneurship in Meghalaya’s hinterland.
