Shillong, Aug 20: MLA Dr. Mehtab Chandi Sangma, wife of the Meghalaya chief minister on Wednesday engaged in a a detailed discussion on the zero waste period- She Rising project with the Shubham Charitable Association team.
Sangma personally inspected the reusable sanitary products manufactured by Shubham and highly appreciated the quality, vision, and dedication behind the initiative.
It is noteworthy that Mehtab Chandi has earlier inspired and empowered 1,600 school girls in her constituency on International Women’s Day by distributing free reusable pads.

This noble step not only generated employment for rural women but also resulted in reduction of menstrual waste of 8,00,000 single-use pads saved from going to landfills.
It was significant cost savings after ₹3,500 per girl, contributing to both economic relief and environmental protection.
Sangma’s leadership has set an example of how women’s health, rural employment, and environmental sustainability can go hand in hand.

She assured her continued support in expanding the Zero Waste Period project to reach more women and girls across Meghalaya.
Pushpa Bajaj, Founder and President of Shubham Charitable Association, was accompanied by Sunita Chachan (Secretary), Kanak Goyal ( Chief Convenor), Vandana Singhania, head of Shuvham’s Eevent) Silky Bajaj (Head of Management) Payal Bajaj (Head of Zero Waste Project), and Grimchi Sangma (Shumam’s trainer) were present during the meeting.
This meeting marks another milestone in Shubham’s mission to create a healthier, greener, and more empowered Meghalaya.
