Tura, Nov 17: The much anticipated three-day cultural event called the Me’gong Festival is taking off from November 18th at Babadamgre village, on the side of the recently concluded 100 Drums Wangala Festival, and this event is going to be showcased to the world by none other than famous TV presenter, travel vlogger, film actor and active Instragram influencer Shenaz Treasurywala who is arriving in Garo Hills for this show.
Shenaz has been awarded for her role as an influencer who spreads positivity.

This three-day programme includes cultural shows, food and drink competitions and has been funded by the Meghalaya Tourism Department.
The organizer of the show, Springboard Surprises of Shillong, is expecting record crowd of participants including foreign dignitaries.
Foreign embassy officials from Sweden, Israel, France and Mexico, Computer giant Microsoft’s head of South Asia, and even world famous fast car Aston Martin’s marketing head will be popping in to have a glimpse of this festival.
But the limelight will clearly be on Shenaz who has a vast army of followers as a blogger and influencer.
All major events of the three-day festival will be uploaded by Shenaz on her Instagram page, which is viewed by thousands of people from across India and the world.

Events lined up for the event
A strong man contest that includes traditional games, including arm wrestling, is also taking place on each of the three day programme.
Another special event of the festival is the show by world famous Lagota Circus whose artists come from countries as far as Columbia and Brazil in South America.
Headed by Javier Rendon from the South American continent, Lagota Circus will present to the people of Garo Hills a spectacular ‘Crystals and Fire show’.
Music, which is never too far away from any cultural or traditional events in Garo Hills and Meghalaya, will be lighting up the festival for much of the three day show. There will be Wangala and Ruga traditional dances, songs by Garo group Nokpante, Shillong’s Khasi folk fusion Soulmate and Clansman, and of course VH1 award winner and rapper Meba Ofilia of Shillong whose performance goes as far as Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
One of the special moments that will draw the largest crowds is probably going to be the Brewing competition, be it fermented beer from rice, millets or other items, for which participants are coming from Sikkim, Arunachal and Assam to take on the Garo brewers in the competition.
A chilli eating competition to see who can take in the most number, eating competition on Sakkin (garo rice cake) is also going to enthral the crowds during the festival.
There is also a fashion show from designers of Garo Hills, Khasi and Jaintia Hills and some of the models displaying the designer wear will be Garo Hills’ very own boys and girls.
Me’gong Festival
Me’gong is a flower found in abundance across Garo Hills. This is the time for the flower to bloom and during the beginning of the monsoon season its young and tender shoots are a sought after delicacy in traditional garo cuisine.
