Shillong, Apr 28: Defending champions Mawlai SC were held to a 2-2 draw by Laskein SCSC in Group E of the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL 5) at Amlarem on Tuesday, even as Langsning FC and Nongkseh SSCC registered emphatic wins.
With several senior players away on I-League 3 duty, Mawlai fielded a largely young side and fell behind early to Bundaki Lamare (9’). They recovered through Jestibor Mawlong (32’) before Syndongmiki Lyngdoh (55’) gave them the lead. However, Laskein responded quickly, with Rithrangmiki Biam (60’) ensuring a share of the points.
In contrast, Langsning FC produced a dominant display in Group F, thrashing Umlakro SC 8-0 in Mairang. Nelson Rymbai starred with four goals (32’, 62’, 88’, 90’+1), taking his tally to 11 and moving to the top of the scoring charts. Mebanlamlynti Masharing (29’), Samuel Phawa (56’), Morningstar Khongkiang (79’) and an own goal completed the rout.
At the SSA Stadium, Nongkseh SSCC also ran riot, defeating Mawshun SC 8-0 in Group A. Chesterpaul Lyngdoh netted a hat-trick (16’, 35’, 88’P), while Hardy Cliff Nongbri (11’, 90’+2), Shano Tariang (52’, 90’) and Fullmoon Mukhim (90’+4) added to the tally.
In another one-sided contest, Lumphyrnai Sohphoh FC defeated Lamyrsiang SCC 6-1 in Group E at Wahiajer. Rio Marboh continued his fine form with four goals (9’, 45’+3, 72’, 79’), while Phrangsngi Law (81’) and Chandame Suna (90’+3) also scored. Seiborki Kharlukhi (34’) netted the lone goal for Lamyrsiang.
