Tura, Nov 10: The ten-day Special National Integration Camp (SNIC) North Eastern Region–I, organised by the National Cadet Corps (NCC), concluded in Tura on Monday with a vibrant cultural programme and a festive Bada Khana, marking the end of a successful initiative to foster unity, discipline, and leadership among youth.

Over 400 cadets from 17 NCC directorates across India took part in the camp, hosted in the scenic Garo Hills. The event brought together young people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate India’s cultural diversity through cultural exchanges, sports, trekking, and awareness programmes.

The closing ceremony, held at the ISBT premises, featured performances by cadets showcasing the traditions of different states, followed by the NCC Song and National Anthem. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and camaraderie as cadets shared experiences that transcended regional boundaries.

Brigadier K.J. Singh, Group Commander of NCC Shillong Group, attended as Chief Guest, alongside Brigadier Thongam J.S. and Commanding Officer D.T. Anthony.

Addressing the gathering, Brigadier Singh commended the cadets for their discipline and energy, saying, “I am very impressed by the spirit and the josh you have shown. You are the future of the country. Such camps help you learn lessons beyond textbooks — lessons of leadership, teamwork, and mutual respect.”

During the camp, cadets participated in National Integration Awareness Programmes (NIAP), quiz and sports competitions, and a trek to Nokrek National Park. They also witnessed the iconic 100 Drums Wangala Festival, offering them a glimpse into the vibrant culture of Meghalaya’s Garo community.

The closing Bada Khana, attended by cadets and officers, celebrated the successful completion of the camp in true NCC spirit.
