Lyngdoh informed that the design associate have asked to submit the details of the new dome design in 30-34 weeks time.
The design associates presented four options to the members of the committee. The new dome design will weigh 1/10 of the original dome plan with no additional cost to the government.
“Out of the four designs, option number two has been selected and agreed by the HPC,” informed the Speaker.
The Speaker further stated that the portion of the new dome agreed by the HPC would be of steel frames and partly with glassfibre reinforced concrete (GRC) materials and some metal sheets and at the same time with the profile pre-coated galvanized iron (GI) sheets.
The earlier dome that collapsed was about 3000 ton but the new dome design will weigh 250-300 tons (which is 1/0 from the initial design), added the Speaker.
