Shillong, Nov 14: The Raid Laban Sports, Social and Cultural Organization (RLSSCO) felicitated 258 meritorious students at the 17th Meritorious Award 2020-21 on Saturday.
A total of 30 toppers who have excelled in the different examinations were also awarded with laptops as a mark of encouragement and recognition of their hardwork and academic achievements.
Interestingly, like any other year, the organization also included the dropout students and those coming from BPL families who passed out in any division, as a gesture of support and encouragement for their achievements in clearing their examinations.
The awards and laptops were handed over to the meritorious students by the cabinet minister and South Shillong legislator Sanbor Shullai besides other dignitaries during the grand ceremony.
Organized annually by the Raid Laban Sports, Social and Cultural Organization (RLSSCO) under the leadership of Shullai, over 5,000 – 6,000 students coming from the different parts of the constituency have been felicitated during the last 17 years.
Speaking to reporters at the sidelines of the award ceremony, Shullai said that the objective of the award ceremony was to further encourage students in their studies.
He said promotion of education and extending financial support to students are his top most priorities as a public representative. “It is my duty to contribute to the people of my constituency and the state as a whole,” Shullai asserted.
