Shillong experiences water logging following heavy rain

Must read

Shillong, March 31: Heavy rainfall on Friday left several parts of Shillong water-logged, causing inconvenience to the residents of the city. The roads in the Polo area were particularly affected, with the entire stretch completely submerged and making it difficult for vehicles and pedestrians to move around.

The lack of a good drainage system in Polo area has always been a cause of concern, and the recent heavy rainfall has only added to the problem. The water logging resulted in traffic snarls, causing a lot of frustration among the commuters.

Residents of the area have been complaining against the lack of action by the authorities to fix the drainage system. They say that despite repeated complaints, nothing has been done to address the issue. They have demanded the government to take immediate action to fix the drainage system and prevent such incidents from happening again.

The water logging has also raised concerns about the spread of water-borne diseases in the area. The stagnant water can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects, posing a threat to public health.
