Shillong, Oct 16: In a major boost to regional tourism and international cooperation, the Emerging North-East Eco Forum (ENEEF) joined hands with the Government of Meghalaya and a high-level Thai delegation for a special Tourism Promotion event held in Shillong on October 14.

Hosted by the Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya, the event was graced by the Governor of Meghalaya and Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, whose presence underscored the state’s growing focus on sustainable and international tourism partnerships.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Thanathip Upatasing, Ambassador of Thailand to India, expressed strong interest in forging closer tourism linkages between Thailand and Meghalaya. He also revealed Thailand’s plans to initiate chartered flight services to Meghalaya by December 2025, marking a significant stride toward enhancing connectivity and cultural exchange between the two regions.

The discussions focused on deepening cooperation in sustainable tourism, eco-cultural exchanges, and joint promotional activities to highlight Meghalaya’s natural and cultural treasures to international travellers.
Speaking on the collaboration, representatives from ENEEF reaffirmed their commitment to advancing dialogue and partnerships that promote inclusive and eco-friendly development across North-East India.
ENEEF extended its gratitude to the Government of Meghalaya, the Department of Tourism, and the Thai delegation for their shared vision in building meaningful international tourism linkages rooted in sustainability and mutual growth.
