Train services disrupted again in parts of Northeast due to landslides

Must read

Guwahati, July 7: Railway services between South Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, and the rest of the country via Guwahati have once again been disrupted due to massive landslides in the Lumding–Badarpur section.

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said that train operations in the Lumding–Badarpur hill section were disrupted following a landslide between the Mupa and Dihakho stations under the Lumding Division.

As a result, the track has been suspended until the boulders and debris blocking it are cleared. Help desks have been set up at Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Badarpur, and Agartala stations to assist passengers, Sharma added.

Since June 23, this is the third time South Assam, Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram have been cut off from the rest of the country by rail due to landslides on the single-line track.

Earlier, following a week-long disruption caused by landslides in the same Lumding–Badarpur section, regular train services had resumed on June 30.
