Guwahati, Sept 15: The Chief Minister’s Vigilance and Anti-Corruption team on Monday raided the residence of Assam Civil Service( ACS) officer and Revenue Circle Officer Nupur Bora, recovering ₹1.70 crore in cash from his flat in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

Officials said the Vigilance team is also preparing to extend the operation to the residence of a close associate of Bora as part of the ongoing probe.

In a parallel operation, the CM’s Special Vigilance Cell conducted a raid at the residence of Lat Mandal Surajit Deka, attached to the Baghbor Revenue Circle Office. The raid took place at Deka’s multi-storied residence in Dongarkuchi, Barpeta.

Deka is facing allegations of amassing disproportionate assets and has been accused of acquiring multiple landed properties across Barpeta in collusion with former Revenue Circle Officer Nupur Bora.

Sources confirmed that the raid was conducted in the presence of Deka, who is known to be closely associated with Bora. During the search, Vigilance officials recovered over ₹10 lakh in cash concealed inside three Godrej lockers, along with a substantial quantity of gold ornaments. Several important documents were also seized.

The raid lasted nearly six hours, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and continuing until 4:30 p.m.
