‘Waste to art’ exhibition held in Nongpoh

Nongpoh Nov 3: Celebrating the 75th Year of India’s Independence “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and 50 years of statehood of Meghalaya, on November 3, the office of the Deputy Commissioner Ri Bhoi district in collaboration with the Nongpoh Town Committee felicitated Waste Pickers of Nongpoh Town.During the programme, the Waste To Art Exhibition was held which was participated by different schools of Ri Bhoi district.

The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner R.M Kurbah as the chief guest in presence of the Project Director of DRDA B.J Kharshandi, M. Tongper, EAC, Nongpoh Town Waste Management Committee Celestine Lyngdoh among others.

Addressing the gathering, R.M Kurbah expressed gratitude to the Swachh Bharat Mission Team for their effort in making the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ a successful one which had aimed at bringing and sensitizing on Cleanliness in the country.

She also urged, people of Ri Bhoi district to take responsibility for their surroundings to keep it clean as the word says ‘Cleanliness is Next To Godliness”.
