SHILLONG, FEB 19: KHADC Executive Member (EM) in-charge of Law, Deiti H Majaw, has informed the House that there are 6 Village Courts functioning in areas falling under the District Council.
Replying to a query raised by MDC of Nongpoh Constituency, Rona Khymdeit, during the budget session, Majaw said that the 6 Village Courts include Nongjri Village Court, Tyrna Village Court, Village Court Wahlong Sirdarship, Village Court Raid Nongskeh, Tynrong Village Court, and Mawbuh Village Court.

“The Village Court functions with six maximum members but not less than two members. The tenure of all District Courts is 5 years and after every 5 years, the Courts have to renew their tenure with the district council,” Majaw said.
