Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma is currently reviewing a request made by suspended Voice of the People Party (VPP) legislator Adelbert Nongrum. Nongrum has asked the Speaker not to accept his suspension order, citing that it was not addressed to him as an MLA.
The meeting was attended by top government officials including Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong (Parliamentary Affairs and PWD - Buildings) and Sniawbhalang Dhar (Urban Affairs), Chief Secretary D.P. Wahlang, Commissioner & Secretary of Finance and Planning Vijay Kumar D, and Commissioner & Secretary of Parliamentary Affairs Cyril Diengdoh.
With the structural work of the New Assembly building now completed, focus has shifted to finishing the interiors and premises, with the goal of making it ready for the Autumn session of the State Assembly.
