Boko, July 19: Lightning has claimed two lives and injured three in two separate villages in the Boko area in Assam.
The victims have been identified as Nilkamal Das(25) of Dilinga village and Kamal Boro(40) of Pukhuripara village under Boko revenue circle. Three others were injured, who have been identified as Govind Das(60) of Dilinga village, Rimpi Boro( 15) of Pukhuripara village and Mamata Basumatary(24) of Narengapara village. The incident happened when the victims were working in their paddy fields.

The victims were rushed to Boko Primary Health Centre, but doctors pronounced Nilkamal Das and Kamal Boro dead. The injured were admitted to Boko Primary Health Centre, but Govind Das was shifted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital for further treatment. However, Rimpi Boro and Mamata Basumatari are being treated at Boko Primary Health Centre. The incident has caused grief across Boko.
Meanwhile, Pritam Kalita, field officer of Assam State Disaster Management Authority, has assured the families of the victims that the government will render all possible help.
