Tura, Dec 19: The State Government has released two months’ backlog salaries for GHADC employees and credited pensions for former MDCs, the GHADC Sub-Committee announced on Friday.
The meeting, held at the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner’s Chamber and chaired by Vibhor Agarwal, confirmed that the salary arrears were released on December 19 under the Sub-Committee’s supervision bringing much-needed relief to the employees ahead of Christmas.
GHADC employees and current MDCs have also been receiving their monthly salaries on time, fulfilling Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma’s earlier commitment.
The Sub-Committee said pensions for Ex-MDCs have been credited starting December 19.
Several GHADC employees told the media they were grateful to the State Government, particularly Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, for clearing the two months’ salary backlog ahead of Christmas and the advance salary of December ensuring timely release of monthly salaries.
They said the payments have provided much-needed relief to their families, eased financial stress and allowed them to celebrate the festive season without the difficulties faced in previous years.
